This Privacy Policy explains how The Fancy Gadgeteer (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use https://craigbaker.co.za (the “Website”), in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

  • Contact form: name, email, company (optional), phone, message, and your consent to processing. We also include the service and enquiry link you used, where available, to help us understand your request. If you reached the Website from one of our Google adverts, the enquiry also includes the click reference Google added to the link (for example a “GCLID”) and the time you arrived.
  • Analytics: usage data via Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics, such as pages visited, device type, and approximate location, subject to the location-aware choice described below.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, and cookies necessary to run the site or chosen by you.

Enquiry context uses fixed service and page labels, not your browsing history or arbitrary URL parameters. You can enquire without allowing optional analytics. When measurement is permitted, we record actions such as selecting an enquiry link, starting a form and sending it successfully. These event details do not include your name, email, phone number or message.

Advert click references

When you arrive from one of our Google adverts, Google adds a click reference to the link. We keep it in your browser for the current tab only and, if you send an enquiry, include it with that enquiry. If the enquiry turns into a genuine business conversation, we may upload that click reference and the date of the outcome to Google Ads so we can see which adverts are useful and stop paying for those that are not. We do not upload your name, email address, phone number or message for this purpose. This processing relies on our legitimate interest in measuring our advertising; you can object at any time by contacting our Information Officer, and we will not upload the reference.

Why we collect it

  • To respond to enquiries you submit.
  • To understand and improve how the Website is used.
  • To protect the Website from abuse (e.g. bot protection via Cloudflare Turnstile on the contact form).
  • To communicate via WhatsApp if you initiate contact through that channel.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Analytics legal basis and choices

For visitors detected in South Africa, we rely on our legitimate interests under POPIA to measure and improve the Website and to measure which of our adverts lead to enquiries, balanced against your privacy rights. You may object by rejecting analytics and ad measurement in Cookie settings at any time. For visitors in the EU, EEA, UK, and every location that has not been specifically reviewed, analytics and ad measurement remain off until you consent. Ad personalisation and remarketing always require your opt-in.

If location detection is unavailable or unclear, we apply the opt-in default.

Third-party processors

We use trusted service providers who may process personal information on our behalf, including:

  • Cloudflare (hosting, security, Turnstile, and transactional email for contact form submissions)
  • Zoho Mail (our mailbox provider, which receives enquiry emails)
  • Pages CMS (content management via GitHub)
  • Google (analytics, ad measurement and tags via Google Tag Manager, when permitted by the location-aware setting or your choice; and Google Ads, for advert click references described above)
  • Meta / WhatsApp (if you choose to contact us via the WhatsApp link; governed by Meta’s policies)

Some of these providers may process data outside South Africa. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

Retention

Enquiry data is retained only as long as needed to respond and manage the business relationship, unless a longer period is required by law. Analytics data retention follows Google’s configured settings.

If an enquiry cannot be delivered by email, it is stored temporarily in Cloudflare Workers KV so that your message is not lost. These records are automatically deleted after 30 days.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and object to certain processing. Contact the Information Officer above.
