A first online home for a visual artist
A completed WordPress portfolio brings an artist's visual work, writing and ideas together, with a practical way to publish future projects.
Technologies & methods
- WordPress
Executive summary
An independent visual artist commissioned a first website to create a dedicated home for a practice that spans detailed visual series, supporting texts, videos and published articles. Completed in September 2026, the WordPress portfolio gives each part enough room while keeping the wider body of work connected.
The result is a distinctive, evolving portfolio built around the practice behind the work, with a practical publishing system the artist can manage directly.
The problem
- The artist had no dedicated website or central online portfolio
- Individual projects combine multiple artworks with substantial supporting text
- Writing, video and background information needed to sit naturally alongside the visual work
- The site needed to be manageable without a developer for every update
The approach
We structured the site around the artist’s body of work rather than a conventional portfolio template.
The homepage brings selected projects, articles and background information into one visual flow. Each body of work has its own page, combining an image-led gallery with enough space to explain the ideas, research and process behind it.
WordPress provides a practical publishing system for adding projects and refining existing material. The public design stays restrained so that the interface supports the work without competing with it.
The result
The artist now has a first dedicated online home that presents both the visual work and the thinking behind it. Visitors can move between projects, longer writing and background information while retaining the context of the wider practice.
The portfolio can continue to evolve: new work can be published as it is completed, descriptions can be refined, and the website can grow alongside the artist’s career.
Outcomes
- The artist has a first dedicated online portfolio
- New work and updates can be published without relying on a developer
- Visual projects, supporting texts and articles sit together in one coherent place
